Poem: Alchemists

Alchemists

Powerful particulates precipitated in a pot

Colloidal clusters coalesced and aged

Hydrogels hardened and heated, filtered and formed

Notions nurtured for the needs of now

Less primitive perhaps than brothers passed

No need for magic, incantations, spells

But insight gathered from the past

And postulates proven by performance

While science smothers supplication

Humility and faith remain

Stones yield not gold nor life eternal

But catalysts for rich resources

-J.T. Richardson (October, 1982)
